Mandatory Water Meter Replacement Program for the Village of Sebring

Date: September 5, 2025

Dear Residents & Property Owners,

This letter is to inform you of the upcoming replacement of your water meter as part of Sebring’s water meter replacement program. This project is necessary to ensure accurate and equitable water billing for all customers, as older meters are less accurate.

Why are meters being replaced?

  • Improved Accuracy: New meters provide more precise readings, leading to fairer water bills.
  • Advanced Technology: New meters can offer more detailed data and may include features for leak detection.

Who is doing the work?

  • Business meters will be installed by Sebring Service Department staff. Invoices will be sent.
  • Residential meters will be replaced by our contracted partner, NECO/Alldrive. Water bills will reflect a technology fee for residents.
  • Installers will carry valid identification and drive marked vehicles for your safety and security.
  • Installation of residential meters will begin in October. Business meters will begin in September.

What to expect during installation:

  1. Scheduling an Appointment:

NECO/Alldrive will contact you to schedule a specific date and time for the installation.

  1. Temporary Service Interruption: Your water service will be temporarily shut off during the installation process, which typically takes about 15-30 minutes to complete.
  2. New Meter Installation: The contractor will remove the old meter and install a new one with new gaskets to prevent leaks.

A new transmitter will be installed to wirelessly transmit your water usage data.

What you need to do:

  • Locate Your Meter: Please try to locate your water meter in advance and ensure it is accessible on the day of your appointment.
  • Check Shut-off Valves: If you are able, verify that your interior water shut-off valves are functioning correctly prior to the technician’s arrival.
  • Ensure Access: Clear any items away from the meter to allow the technician easy access to the equipment.

Effective January 2026, there will be a Technology Fee listed on residential bills.
