Sewer System Smoke Testing to Begin August 10th

The Village of Sebring will be conducting smoke testing in our sewer system beginning August 10th, 2021. As part of our sewer permit from the Ohio EPA, we must try to identify all sources of I&I (inflow and infiltration), which is basically rain water getting into the sewer pipes. The Village has already completed manhole inspections and this is the next phase. This testing will consist of using a machine that blows air and liquid smoke into manholes to be able to document where bad connections are located. THE SMOKE IS NON-TOXIC. Smoke should not get into a home. If smoke does get into a home, it is due to a drain being improperly installed. Questions or concerns, please contact Village Manager Jack Haney at (330)938-9340, ext. 4.
